Room 207 Constitution

Preamble

We the Students of room 207, in Order to form a more perfect classroom, establish rules, insure equal treatment, provide for the common rights, promote the opinions of students, and secure the Blessings of choice to ourselves and our descendants, do commission and establish this Constitution for room 207.

Article I: The Legislative Branch


Section 1: Number of Representatives

3 people shall make the laws of this country. One person per two rows will be selected to make the laws. If one member is not doing their job, then the other 2 members or obligated to vote that person out.

Section 2: Selection of Representatives

There will be a vote every 3 weeks. After the three representatives are chosen, they'll shall report to the House of Representatives.

Section 3: Term of Service

Legislators shall serve a term of 3 weeks. Like with the representatives, they will serve a term of 3 weeks. Once they're done with their term then, they shall return back to their home .

Section 4: Age and Citizenship

In order to serve as a legislator, a person must have these requirements:

Citizenship Requirements:

  • A person must have attended Burdick School for at least 4 months.
  • A person must have proof that they have attended Burdick School.
  • A person must have a G.P.A of 3.0 or higher.

Section 5: Representation of States

Each row will send 1 legislator to Congress. If one or more people or not doing their job then, the members are obligated to vote those members out.

Section 6: Impeachment of the President

The House of Representatives are obligated to impeach the president. Only if they have to have a majority vote of 3/4.

Section 7: Salary of Legislators

There is no pay for being a Legislator.

Section 8: Legislative Quoram

The sum of 3/4 legislators must vote in favor of a "bill" before it becomes law.

Section 9: Involvement of the president in the making of laws

Yes, the president will have a say in making laws. The president will approve or not approve the bill. If its not approved by the president, it must go back to the House of Representatives to have a vote on if the bill should be passed as a law.



ARTICLE II: THE EXECUTIVE BRANCH


Section 1: Length and Limits of Presidential Term

The president will serve for 3 months. The limit he/she can serve is 3 months.

Section 2: Selection of the President

The president will be chosen by popular vote.

Section 3: Eligibility for Presidency

In order to serve as president, one must fit these requirements:
  • Must be 13 years of age.
  • Must have attended Burdick School for 4 years.
  • Must have a 3.0 or higher.

Section 4: Presidential Salary

The President shall be paid the sum of one homework pass per month. After the president has served his/her term, he will be paid one homework pass per month.

ARTICLE III: THE JUDICIAL BRANCH


Section 1: Selection and Appointment of Judges

The judges will be selected by the president.

Section 2: Term of Judicial Service

He/she should serve for as long as he/she is doing a good job.

ARTICLE IV: ADDITIONAL PROCEDURES AND REQUIREMENTS


Section 1: The Extradition of Those Accused of a Crime

A criminal should be put on trial in the classroom where he/she is captured.

Section 2: Changes and Ammendments to the Constitution

Changes or additions will be allowed to the constitution as long as they are approved by the president.

Section 3: Military Intervention in State Matters

The government should send send soldiers to end the trouble in another state as long as the government has permission to from the president.

Section 4: Ability of State to Disagree with Constitutional Matters

A state shall not be able to pass its own laws.

Section 5: Double Jeopardy

No one shall be put on trial again for the same crime if new evidence is discovered that shows he/she is probably guilty.

Section 6: Rights Regarding Self Incrimination

Yes he/she must answer all questions asked of him/her.

Section 7: Government Rights to Private Land

The government shall be forbidden of taking away a person's land under any circumstances.

Section 8: Bail and Fines

Certain rules must be followed in setting bail, fines, and punishments, for example:
  • someone can only be put in jail if found guilty of their crime
  • the judge must decide want the punishment must be
  • only the judge can decide how much someone must pay for bail

Section 9: Income Taxes

Congress has no right to pass laws requiring people to pay income taxes. The government will be funded by property taxes.

Section 10: Age of Voting Eligibility

Citizens shall be able to vote at the at the age of 13 .

Section 11: Declaring War and Making Peace Treaties

Only Congress will be allowed to declare war, and make peace treaties.

Bill Of Rights

People have the right to:
  • freedom of religion
  • freedom of speech
  • freedom of the press
  • freedom to protest against decisions of the government.
